Holiday Fitness Feels

I've just arrived back from an amazing week in Lanzarote with my son - a much needed holiday to relax, recharge and spend some quality time together after a tough 8 months.

I've shared previously about staying active on holiday and again, I naturally packed my running trainers and a workout set. I also invested in a folding yoga mat, which I was able to carry in my bag as hand luggage, along with some new MUSICOZY Earphones and my favourite incense sticks! Why? Because movement is part of my daily habit and it makes me feel good - it's that simple.

We were up and out early for our morning runs, before it got too hot - I've always taught my son that being active is a normal part of daily life. We had a fab time exploring the coastal paths, finding hidden stairways down to the sea and watching all the divers head out to explore. We were back in time for breakfast, feeling invigorated for the day! Each evening before dinner, I practiced 20-30 minutes of yoga from our balcony, complete with calming music, burning incense and Euan watching on (while playing on his games!) Our balcony wasn't private, we had other guests walking by, but I didn't let that stop me enjoying the benefits of outdoor exercise - headphones on, mind clear and rather than worry what other people thought, I hoped I may pass on a little inspiration (though I'm sure plenty wondered what on earth I was doing!)

Why sacrifice your entire healthy routine every time you go on holiday? While it may be an escape for some much needed relaxation and a little self-indulgence, you don't have to abandon every healthy habit. We all know how hard it can be, "I'll start again when I get home". Here's my tips to help you find a little balance while enjoying your well-deserved break...

1. Pack your workout gear - or at least your trainers

2. Explore outdoor activities - swim a few lengths in the pool, inbetween floating on the lilo

3. Try some active excursions

4. Try and delay the all-inclusive cocktails till a little later in the day - most places have some fab alcohol-free ones

5. Enjoy the cultural cuisines, but if you don't want to come home having undone all your good work, be a little mindful about what you eat. Get plenty of fruit and veg in there and stay hydrated. Of course, the more you move on holiday, the more you'll need to refuel!

6. Don't miss out on your sleep, or you'll be playing catchup when you get home, and no doubt have to go back to work

Remember, the key to a successful fitness routine is to stay consistent and adapt to your surroundings. By integrating physical activity into your holiday plans, you'll return home feeling invigorated and accomplished.

Enjoy your holiday workout adventures! 🏋️‍♂️🧘‍♀️🌴
